About Wegovy Pill®
Oral semaglutide (Rybelsus) was the first oral GLP-1 agonist approved globally, using a proprietary SNAC absorption technology to survive the stomach's acid environment. Higher-dose oral semaglutide formulations (under development as Wegovy Pill) aim to match the weight-loss efficacy of injectable Wegovy. For patients who prefer tablets over injections, this represents a major advance in accessibility of GLP-1 therapy.

How It Works (Mechanism of Action)
Oral semaglutide uses SNAC (sodium N-[8-(2-hydroxybenzoyl)amino]caprylate) as an absorption enhancer — it temporarily changes the pH and permeability of the gastric mucosa to allow semaglutide absorption. Once absorbed, it acts identically to injectable semaglutide at GLP-1 receptors.
Dosage Protocol
Start: 3 mg daily × 30 days. Increase to 7 mg daily × 30 days. Maintenance: 14 mg daily. Must be taken on empty stomach with sips of plain water only, 30 minutes before food or other medications.
When to Expect Results
Blood sugar improvement: 2–4 weeks. Weight loss onset: 4–8 weeks. Significant body composition change: 3–6 months.
Potential Side Effects
Similar GI profile to injectable: nausea (common initially), vomiting, diarrhea. Less intense than injectable due to lower systemic peak levels.
